ARITHMETIC Exponents (Page 4 of 6)

To evaluate any exponent, including the three cases we have just covered, you can use the general power key. Remember to use parentheses with negative numbers or expressions. For example, evaluate 3.61^4.5 and (-2)^7.

 CLEAR key.
 3.61 Caret key. 4.5 ENTER key.
 Left parenthesis key. Negation key. 2 Right parenthesis key. Caret key. 7 ENTER key.		 Calculator screen image.

The general power key can be used with negative exponents also. Add the Frac command if you want to display the results as a fraction. Let's evaluate 2^(-4).
