INSTRUCTIONS | Screen Contrast (Page 1 of 1) |
One final thing we should mention is how to adjust the contrast. As you continue to use your TI-83/84 the four AAA batteries will slowly drain. As a result, over time your screen will start to fade and become difficult to read. When this begins to happen, press 2nd Up Arrow (hold the arrow key down) until the text on the screen is again readable. If the text is too dark, press 2nd Down Arrow (hold the arrow key down) to lighten the screen.
As you do this, a number between 0 and 9 will appear in the upper right corner. This number acts as a meter of your battery strength. When this number reaches 9 it will soon be time to replace your batteries. The calculator will alert you with a special message when it is time to actually replace them. If at any time you turn your calculator on and the cursor does not appear, try darkening the contrast (2nd UpArrow) before you do anything else. Often the calculator is functioning fine, but the screen is too dim to see the cursor. |
