To find the coordinates of the vertex from the Home screen, use the fmin or fmax command located in the MATH MATH submenu. For the current example the vertex is a maximum point, so we will use fmax. When using either command you must state the rule of the function (defined as Y1), the variable name, and a lower and upper bound. It is helpful to have some idea of where the vertex is located to do this! From the graph we can see that the vertex is near x = 3, so we will use a left bound of 1 and a right bound of 5. Rounding, the x-coordinate of the vertex is x = 3. |
