To create a "friendly" window, Xmax-Xmin should be a multiple of 9.4. In this example, we can use a multiple of 1.0, meaning the width of the screen will be 9.4 units and each pixel will represent 0.1 unit. The vertical asymptotes at x = -1.5 and x = 2 will then be positioned directly on pixel centers. To maintain a viewing rectangle centered at 0, set Xmin = -4.7 and Xmax = 4.7 (half of 9.4 is 4.7). Adjust your WINDOW as shown, then re-graph the function. Notice that we obtain a much different view of the graph now. The false line segments are no longer present, but now there is a more narrow perspective. |
