Let's begin by graphing the inverse relation for the sine function. Before proceeding any further, make sure the calculator is in radian and function mode. The settings Radian and Func must be highlighted (these should be the default settings). If your calculator is not in the appropriate mode, use the arrow keys to position the cursor over the corresponding selection and press ENTER. Although the sine function is a function, it is not a one-to-one function. The graph of y = sin(x) does not pass the horizontal line test. We can graph its inverse, but the inverse will not be a function unless we limit ourselves to a restricted domain. |
