Next we will graph the arctangent function. Return to the function editor and replace the inverse cosine with the inverse tangent function. Then change the WINDOW settings to Xmin = -4.7, Xmax = 4.7 (a "friendly" window for the next set of graphs, click here for more window details), Ymin = -2 and Ymax = 2. Graph the function.

Observe that the domain is the set of all real numbers, and the range is (-π/2, π/2). There are horizontal asymptotes at both y = -π/2 and y = π/2.
